HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY FOR STRESS:

WHAT IS STRESS?

Stress is the reaction of the autonomic nervous system to a threat or threats. This is the instinctive defence mechanism against attack, whether real or imagined. In the event of a real hreatened physical attack, this system releases adrenaline into the blood stream to assist in either fighting off the attacker or running away (this is known as the 'fight or flight' mechanism). Once the threat subsides, the system returns to normal.

If however some unused adrenaline remains in the system, this is detrimental to the body. There are many stressors in the modern world but very few are life threatening situations. This means that people carry their stress without finding appropriate outlets because the system's original design was intended to take care of physical threats.

Here are some examples of things that cause stress in order of anxiety caused:

  • Death of a spouse / partner / close friend
  • Divorce
  • Redundancy
  • Moving house
  • Pressures at work
  • Financial pressures

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY HELP WITH STRESS?

The inability to deal with the stress may be deep seated at some point in the past or may be due to current circumstances. The hypnotherapist will discover which of these is the case and will allow treatment specific to that particular cause.

Hypnosis reduces the effects of stress on the body by deeply relaxing the client, lowering heart rate and blood pressure and relaxing muscle tension. Hypnosis is a relaxed and focused state of mind and most people can be trained to enter this state of deep relaxation in just a few sessions with the help of a trained hypnotherapist. Once trained, most clients can induce a self-hypnotic state during their day to allow themselves to enter a deep stress free state of relaxation.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY:

"I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the help you have given me. I admit that I was somewhat sceptical initially but very open to the experience and I am very glad that I was. I have learnt a lot
about myself and I feel so much more in control of myself and of the situations around me. Now I feel I can move forward rather than simply reacting to 'life'.

The 'baggage' that I have lugged around for 40 odd years can now be left,
nay thrown away thanks to you. Truthfully I haven't liked myself much but I am beginning to believe that there maybe something that has changed here!" C.B.
