HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY FOR PHOBIAS

WHAT IS A PHOBIA?

A phobia is an irrational fear. A fear and avoidance of objects or situations. Exposure to this object or situation may cause a person to react in many different ways, from mild discomfort to a full blown panic reaction. This fear is strong enough to interfere with a person's normal routines, work, or relationships, and even though they recognize their irrationalities they can cause major distress.

EXAMPLES OF COMMON PHOBIAS:

  • Fear of spiders, fear of mice, fear of snakes etc. These phobias tend to form during childhood and at the time are considered to be normal fears. By persisting into adulthood, they cause disruption and distress. Fear of spiders
  • Fear of Heights:  Even the slightest increase in height can cause vertigo in acrophobics
  • Fear of Flying   This is one of the most common phobias and can involve the sufferer worrying about the plane crashing, claustrophobia, lack of control, fear of vomiting, fear of others vomiting, fear of wetting  or messing yourself. It is said that 20% of the population experience anxiety whilst flying. Fear of flying
  • Fear of Thunderstorms and fear of Lightning:   Once again these phobias tend to develop in childhood, usually be observing the reaction of an adult
  • Doctor / Dentist Phobia   Possibly began in childhood with a visit to the doctor or dentist that resulted in an injection for example. Fear of this kind can result in medical neglect. Medical phobia
  • Illness Phobia   Sufferers are convinced that they will contract a life threatening illness. Despite constant reassurance from medical professionals, they still worry.

REGRESSION THERAPY IN HYPNOSIS

Specific phobias are often childhood fears that were never outgrown. In certain instances they may develop after a traumatic event, such as an accident, natural disaster, illness, or visit to the dentist, in other words, as a result of conditioning. Regression Hypnotherapy will allow a person to remember that particular event and review it with 'adult' eyes this time around. This will then allow them to interpret the event correctly and it will no longer be an issue for them.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY:

"After the injection I couldn't believe that I used to be afraid of something so small. It was so quick and didn't hurt at all. I really appreciate your help" D.S.

"The other day I came in from work and saw a spider in the corner of the bedroom. My old reaction would have been to leave the flat and wait in the car until my boyfriend arrived home. But guess what? I got a tissue and picked up the spider and flushed it down the toilet. I couldn't believe what I had done...and neither did my boyfriend when I told him the story!" B.S.
