HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY FOR MEDICAL PHOBIAS Fear of medical treatment includes fear of doctors, fear of dentists, fear of injections and fear of blood. This type of phobia nearly always began in childhood with a visit to the doctor or dentist that resulted in an injection or something else that was frightening for a young child. Fear of this kind can result in medical neglect, for example, avoiding dental check-ups. One particular lady client had a needle phobia. She was about to travel to the Far East and needed a number of essential inoculations. She had a morbid rear of injections and was quite distressed about the whole issue. Hypnotherapy using regression was the answer.
Whilst in
hypnosis she remembered a scene from her childhood (regression). She
and her father took their elderly sick pet dog to the vet. The vet
examined the dog, shook his head and said to the three year old girl
"he's not very well, I'm going to give him an injection and then he
will go to heaven". She had no conscious memory of that particular
event before the session. It was only during the hypnosis
regression, and the revisiting of that event, that allowed her to
see how distressing it was and also the association subconsciously
between injections and death.
The gentleman
with a fear of medical treatment on his eyes (whose email is shown
on the right) refused to allow anybody near his eyes. His vision was
exceptionally poor and he needed some special contact lenses. In
hypnotherapy hypnosis regression, he remembered a scene in his
grandmother's house where a visiting neighbour was describing an eye
operation she had recently undergone which involved removing her
eyeball from it's socket and resting it on her cheek whilst surgery
was carried out. Not only was the visualisation of the eye being
removed from the socket enough to traumatise him but his naughty
brother was making 'popping' noises with his mouth as the surgery
was described. Far from being an amusing scene, this seriously
traumatised the young child and led him to a lifetime of a fear of
opticians and medical treatment of the eyes. |
WHAT CLIENTS SAY:
"Just
wanted to pass on the good news to you, today I visited the
opticians and had my contact lenses fitted with no problem.
You were
correct it does feel strange, to get the correct size a number
of different lenses were tried - this meant different lenses
were put in and out, in and out but the process just got easier!
Who would
have thought that from a guy with a phobia of eyes :-)
The 3
short sessions really helped, the regression was particularly
weird but made perfect sense. Going back to my childhood and a
house that I visited maybe twice in my life appeared so clear,
the furniture and ornaments, the nasty patterned brown carpet
and even the smells came flooding back. From there you made it
easy to see where my problem lie and how to correct it
You are
simply a genius, many thanks" A.D.
