HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY FOR FEAR OF FLYING: FEAR OF FLYING (Aviophobia or Aviatophobia or Pteromerhanophobia) Fear of flying is one of the most common phobias. Up to 20% of us experience some degree of anxiety whilst flying. Whilst the most obvious fear would be worrying about the plane crashing leaving you injured or killed, in my experience, these are relatively way down the scale when questioning clients whilst in hypnosis. Other fears such as claustrophobia, fear of vomiting, fear of others around you vomiting, fear of wetting or messing yourself if the 'Seat Belt' sign is on and you are not allowed to leave your seat. Fear of flying is therefore not a straight-forward phobia, however the fear of not being in control does surface in the majority of cases. We need to look back at a person's childhood experiences to find out what is happening. This cannot be done at a conscious level - statistically aeroplane travel is the safest method of travelling there is but try explaining that to someone with a fear of flying. Their subconscious holds hidden memories from when they were very young (normally between the ages of 1 - 6yrs). Something happened, albeit quite minor, but this led to a lifetime of fear of flying. One particular client had flown quite happily until the age of 15 years. On a flight at that time, the plane flew through some bad weather and the girl sitting next to her was sick. This triggered a memory in her subconscious of when she was 2 years old and vomited in bed during the night. Up to then she had been a very healthy child and the act of being sick was very traumatic. HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY TREAT FEAR OF FLYING? Regression Hypnotherapy will allow a person to remember that particular event that caused them to have a fear of flying and review it with 'adult' eyes this time around. This will then allow them to interpret the event correctly and it will no longer be an issue for them. |
WHAT CLIENTS SAY:
Just had to let you know
that the treatment for fear of flying was successful!
I flew to Guernsey and back
in 2 days - both bumpy flights - both no problem. Then I flew London -
Miami - Quito - Guayaquil - Galapagos (and back). Again, no problem,
again, quite bumpy as the Andes tend to produce a bit of turbulence. I
even enjoyed looking out of the window as we landed at Quito.
Also, according to Chris,
the days before our travel were totally different - hardly any tension.
And when travelling to the airport I didn't have this feeling of "Oh,
I'm about to get on a plane..." J.P.
"Thank you again for helping me with something that was stopping me from
travelling. I loved my time in New York and a year ago I wouldn't have
even considered spending 7 hours on a plane! I really appreciate what
you have done for me." S.G David Samson
