HYPNOTHERAPY HYPNOSIS THERAPY FOR IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME IBS

"Hypnosis may be an effective, long-term therapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), according to a new study published this week.

The findings of the survey were reported in Gut, a specialist publication of the British Medical Association. Research was carried out over six years and involved more than 200 patients.

Around 71 percent of patients said that hypnotherapy successfully improved their condition, with positive effects that lasted up to 5 years. Many also found that hypnosis significantly helped to reduce levels of anxiety and depression associated with the condition.

The patients underwent one-hour sessions of hypnosis lasting up to 12 weeks. They were asked to note any changes in their symptoms, quality of life and mood before and immediately after their treatment, and up to six years later.

IBS is a common but little understood disorder of the digestive tract. It is characterised by a number of common symptoms including recurrent abdominal pains, constipation or diarrhoea.

The precise causes of IBS are not known but doctors suggest it could be brought on by a variety of things such as food, exercise, hormones and stress."

WHAT CLIENTS SAY:

"Just wanted to let you know that the wedding went fantastically well on Saturday, just as you predicted!  I was nervous leading up to it (as I'm sure anyone would be, along with the bride!) but walked down the isle with a massive smile on my face that I really couldn't get rid of, and sat happily at the front of the church throughout the ceremony! The thought of having to rush to the loo just didn't even enter my head.

Thank you for all your help - I certainly feel much more calmer in situations that used to make me nervous, and I shall continue to test this new positive attitude by getting on the tube at some point in the next week for a few stops!"
